142nd Avenue Road Construction
135th Avenue will be closed starting April 11 for about one week. A culvert is being replaced between 14th and 16th Street. The detour route is 14th Street to 135th Avenue to 16th Street. Signs will be posted.

Week 20, Oct 11-16
Stage 5 is completed and as of Friday afternoon we will be open to two way traffic!!!!!!!. We had guardrail go up and all the road stripping done, stop signs and speed limit signs were installed and some restoration work was completed. All concrete was completed except for two small areas left because of utilities needing to be relocated. The street lights downtown now have power and are now working.

Next Week: They will be leaving the message boards and changing them to reflect intermittent lane closures on 142nd to complete work in the area. Miscellaneous signs will be added and some restoration work will be done in the project area. Over the next couple of weeks we will be seeing benches, trash receptacles, bike racks and trees.

Week 20, Oct 11-16
The North side of Stage 5 was based and leveled this week. All remaining castings for the manholes have been raised. Some restoration work was completed east from the dentist office to Floorsmart. The controller cabinet was relocated off from 142nd and Cedar back 25 feet to the north. There was also about 400 feet of sidewalk going towards the Dairy Ranch poured.

Next Week: Monday traffic on 142nd Ave will be shifted to the center lane east of 18th to allow for concrete work to be finished, they will also be doing concrete work downtown. Tuesday they will be top coating all of 142nd Ave east of 18th St. Wednesday they will be paving drive approaches and all the side streets in the entire project area. Thursday the road stripping will be done. Friday the signage will go up and removal of the detour route will happen, they will be leaving the message board signs and they will be changing them to reflect that there will still be intermittent lane closures. There will also be traffic cones on the road yet and traffic shifted at times to complete work in the area. 142nd Ave will officially be open to two way traffic by the end of the day on Friday.

Week 19, Oct 4-9
All underground work, all sand and gravel and all curb and gutter has now been completed in stage 5 which is the north side of 142nd east of 18th St. They have begun grading stage 5 in preparation for the base coat of asphalt to be laid. The downtown asphalt was topped and stripped. The remaining light poles have been installed and the area where the electrical box will be relocated is being prepared. The Cedar Street project was started with site preparation and removal for the future parking spaces. sand and gravel were put down, there was installation of a catch basin and manhole, and the site is now ready for curb, gutter, sidewalk, paving and stripping.

Next Week: Monday/Tuesday there will be fine tuning and restoration of stage 5 in preparation of paving. Power to electrical box for the street lights will also be done this week. Wednesday they will be paving the base coat on stage 5. Thursday the concrete crew will finish up all concrete in the project area. Friday the leveling portion of asphalt will be laid on stage five.

Week 17 & 18, September 20- Oct 1
Downtown 142nd from 18th to North park and north and south on 18th street will see the Top Coat this week Most likely Thursday 9/30 otherwise by Friday or Saturday followed by stripping.
The work on the south side of 142nd was completed and base coat of asphalt laid and traffic was shifted to the south side. All restoration was also completed on the south side from 18th St to east of FloorSmart. The North side has been milled and removed all underground work is 80% completed and will be back graded to Joan by the end of the week. The irrigation has also been completed downtown. There will be a change made in the electrical box on the corner before we will be getting power to the lights downtown, we are also waiting for additional lights to come in that were received damaged initially.

Week 16, September 13-18
Schippers has completed all underground work on the south side of 142nd. Main curb line is complete to Radstock and sidewalk and drive approaches are complete to Litchfield. There has been additional work inside both lift stations. Road grading will be finished up on the south side of 142nd Ave . Restoration on Hickory and Church is just about complete. There are still a couple of areas of sidewalk that are not finished in the downtown area because of needed utility work needed by AT&T. The sprinkling system is complete up to the Standard station.

Next Week: Schippers anticipate paving the south side of 142nd starting Monday, it will take approximately a day and a half to complete, then possibly shifting traffic as early as Tuesday afternoon or more likely early Wednesday morning. They will start milling the north side of 142nd after the traffic shift. We should start to see Street lights put in this week. Colored concrete will get finished up down by the Post Office. The sprinkling system will also be completed this week. They are trying to wrap up the downtown area by the end of September, including: finishing the sprinkling system, seeding grass areas, finishing up the colored concrete, electrical work, trees, benches, trash receptacles and light poles.

Schippers has completed all underground work to FloorSmart. A geo-grid area has been completed in the Leisure St area to sustain and stabilizing the road in poor soil conditions. Curb and gutter and road grading is completed up to Litchfield. There are still a couple of areas of sidewalk that are not finished in the downtown area because of needed utility work. The sprinkling system is complete up to Cedar.

Next Week: Schippers will be completing underground work on the south side of 142nd Ave by Tuesday. All concrete work including curb, gutter and sidewalk in the project areas 1, 2, 3, and 4 should also be completed this week. They will be grading the south side of 142nd Ave eat of 18th in preparation for paving which is tentatively scheduled for Friday. There will be some staking and back filling with dirt on the north side of 142nd Ave in some low areas. We could possibly see Street lights put in by the end of the week or the beginning of the following week. The bulk of the sprinkling system will be done this week also. They are trying to wrap up the downtown area by the end of September, including: finishing the sprinkling system, seeding grass areas, finishing up the colored concrete, electrical work, trees, benches, trash receptacles and light poles.

Week 14, August 30- September 3
Schippers are continuing sanitary sewer east on 142nd and the main line is completed to Leisure. The force main and Storm are complete 100 feet short of the main sewer line. The lift station at Leisure Street is in and set and back grading of the road is done where the underground work has been completed. Curb work continues, along with preparation for continued sidewalk on the south side of 142nd Ave. There are still a couple of areas of sidewalk that are not finished in the downtown area because of needed utility work. Asphalt patchwork on driveways and approaches, tree grates and concrete surround were all worked on in the downtown area this week. The sprinkling system is being installed from west to east starting at the parks. Because of the Labor Day weekend crews will be off the job by 3pm September 3 and will return on September 7.

Schippers are continuing sanitary sewer east on 142nd and have the main line, force main and Storm are completed to just west of Ranchero. Back grading of the road is done to West end of Ranchero. All curb returns at the intersection of Maple, Hickory and Joan are complete. Working on sidewalks east of 18th on the south side of 142nd Ave. Lift station base and structure is set at Leisure St. Wood Pilings are in and set for sanitary sewer in the Leisure St area. Downtown at the intersection of 18th and 142nd there was colored concrete poured; there are still a couple of areas of sidewalk that are not finished because of needed utility work. Top soil was finished in the green space areas. Manholes were being raised to finished road grade height.

Schippers are continuing sanitary sewer east on 142nd and have the main line in up to Ranchero, the force main and Storm are completed to just east of Sandy. Back grading of the road is done to Joan Drive. Hickory, Church to the Dorr Elementary is completed with new road and sewer all in place, detail restoration is all that remains in that area. Downtown at the intersection of 18th and 142nd there was a new flasher installed, there are still a couple of areas of sidewalk that are not finished yet, that need utility work and further preparation before being able to complete. Also they are working on top soil where our green space, irrigation and trees will be installed.

Hickory, all laterals are complete finishing up surveying and grading to put milling down. Working on Church Street to complete sewer connection to the school, with manhole installation at the turn of the main line. Downtown there were some more sidewalks poured and a couple of drive approaches finished, there are a couple of areas that are not finished yet, that need utility work completed. Also they are working on top soil where our green space, irrigation and trees will be installed.

Work completed this week - main storm sewer line is completed to Maple Street there isn’t any additional main line storm sewer left on the project only catch basin crossing and flared end sections for the remainder of the project heading east.
Sanitary sewer has been completed to the pharmacy. Work on the sanitary sewer for Hickory Street headed south and on Church has started this week.
Next week - continuation of sanitary work on 142nd Avenue and Hickory Street that runs to the school. Activity will pick up next week with streetscaping downtown.

The South side of 142nd Ave, Maple east to Dicks Market road removal for stage 4 is complete. Schippers are continuing sanitary sewer east of Maple and have completed it to Hickory this week. The intersection of 18th and 142nd was saw cut, all of the light pole bases and wiring have been installed for street lights, 80% of the sidewalks are done downtown and all of the driveway approaches west of Maple excluding the North and South Parks are complete.

Initial paving for the downtown area will be finished with the completion of Cedar by end of day Friday 7/23, temporary lane stripping has been done on 142nd for two way traffic which will also be open by the end of the day on Friday 7/23. Detour routes will officially be changed from 20th St to 18th St north to 144 Ave for east bound traffic on 142nd Ave east of 18th. They will also be laying conduit in preparation of irrigation in the streetscaping and doing prep work for sidewalk installation next week downtown

Week 7 July 12-17
All underground work has been completed in the downtown with sand, gravel and grading being complete, all for preparation of the upcoming paving. Concrete at the four corners and curbing on the north side of 142nd Ave is expected to be complete by the end of the day Saturday.
July 19-24
Next Week: There will be fine tune grading at the beginning of the week in preparation for paving. Paving could start as early as Tuesday and will take approximately 2 days to complete, followed by stripping of the traffic lanes. Two-way traffic should be open by Saturday. Streetscaping downtown will begin after construction begins east of Maple.
Week 6 July 6-10
The south side of 142nd Ave had it's first layer of pavement put down and traffic has been shifted to the south side of 142nd Ave, still west bound only. Also this week they have done milling and haul away of the north lane of 142nd, sidewalk demolition and underground work including storm sewer stubs, catch basin, and sanitary work on Park, Cedar and 18th St.
July 12-17
Next Week: The underground work should be completed early next week, followed by preparation for concrete on the north half of the intersection of 18th St and 142nd Ave. The actual pouring of that intersection should be completed by end of the business day on Friday July 16th. They will also be doing preparations to 142nd Ave to allow for paving the following week.
Week 5 June 28-July 2
With the 4th of July Holiday Schippers will be off site by 3:30pm July 3 and will return at 7am July 6.
Consumers completed all utilities on Monday allowing Schippers to pour the concrete curbing on the south side of 142nd and concrete at the intersection of 18th and 142nd Ave. They are continuing final road grading in preparation for paving the south side of 142nd Ave. 18th St intersection.
Next Week: Tuesday will be a final grading and a preparation day for paving the south side of 142nd Ave. Paving should be completed on Wednesday. Thursday traffic will be shifted to the south side of 142nd Ave still west bound only. Thursday they will start milling and removal of 142nd Ave north lane and sidewalks. They will also be starting the underground work of sewer laterals and storm sewer. The intersection for 18th St south should be open by Thursday morning. West bound 142nd Ave will be maintained with through traffic during all construction

The concrete curbing along 142nd and concrete at the intersection of 18th and 142nd Ave. has been delayed because of utility hold up from AT&T and Consumers Energy. They have started road grading in preparation for paving the south side of 142nd Ave.
Next Week: Consumers plan to have all utilities finished up by close of day on Monday so that Tuesday and Wednesday will be the pouring of the curb and south portion of the intersection at 142nd Ave and 18th St. They will also continue grading and prepping the south side of 142nd Ave to pave the following week. West bound 142nd Ave will be maintained with through traffic during all construction, but there will be intermittent closures in the downtown for south bound side streets at the intersections while they pour curbing. With the 4th of July Holiday being next weekend Schippers will be off site by 3:30pm July 3 and will return at 7am July 6.

Week 3 June 14-19
We are continuing to make good progress on our project as of 6/19 the sanitary sewer installation and the force main for stages 1, 2, and 3 will be complete. Storm sewer is 75% completed also. There is preparation for concrete curbing along 142nd and concrete at the intersection of 18th and 142nd Ave. They have started road grading at the west end by the parks and have also completed the surveying and staking on this end of the project.
Next Week: Schippers will be putting the forms up to pour concrete curb and gutter from the west end by the parks through the intersection and preparing the south half of 142nd Ave intersection for concrete also. They expect to start pouring by Thursday 6/24 and continue pouring Friday and Saturday. They will also continue grading and prepping the south side of 142nd Ave. West bound 142nd Ave will be maintained with through traffic during all construction, but there will be intermittent closures in the downtown for south bound side street at the intersections while they pour curbing. Expect the next two weeks to have 18th Street south bound closed at the 142nd intersection.

UPDATES Week 2 June 7-12. We are continuing to make good progress on our project with the sanitary sewer installation from the west end by the parks to Cedar being completed. The force main follows and is complete 100ft shy of where the sanitary sewer has been completed. Storm sewer will start being constructed on June 12th and surveying is 90% complete in phases 1, 2, and 3. Consumers Energy has placed most of the relocated poles and will be transferring the wires to the new poles.
Next Week: Schippers plan is to complete sanitary sewer in the downtown and to continue following that with the force main and storm sewer. There is a possibility of flag men or a lane switch while the storm sewer is brought across the north lane of 142nd Ave down by the parks.

WEEK 1 – JUNE 1 – 5.Detour routes are a priority and we appreciate your input and patience. The County is well aware of our situation and has confirmed that this projects detour route is priority #1 with grading and dust control.
Work started on June 1st and even with a rain set back on the second day they have been able to complete all structure removal of stage 1 and 3 hauling road millings and sidewalk away, de watering is near completion and they have also started the installation of the sanitary sewer system.
Next week: Schippers plan on adding more man power and continue sanitary sewer installation at the west end of the project. There may also be a few hours one day towards the end of the week that west bound 142nd Avenue is closed near North Park for work across the north lane.
